Wow, we are only a week away from our lovely adventure! It is unbelievable how fast this trip has come upon us. I feel as if it was only yesterday that Annie and myself found out we were leading this trip together. The anticipation is truly building for all of us involved. I once had a high school psychology teacher say that the anticpation can only be exceed by the actual event, and I hope and believe that all of our lovely group members are feeling this way. I have a little story to let you in on how our group was feeling.
Yesterday, at our final group meeting, you could definetly tell that we were all ready to embark on this lovely journey together. The anticipation, the nerves, the excitment, and the fear was very evident in the group. Due to these vast aray of emotions, we participated in a mingle with each other to get it all out there. The mingle was simple: 3 minutes, 3 rotations, 3 questions. Question 1, what are you most anxious for? Question 2, what are you most excited about? Question 3, to mix it up and throw a lot randomness in there, what is your mothers maiden name? The mingle went great! The energy in the room shot right up, and everyone was able to connect through common emotions. It was evident that most of us had similiar emotions of anxiety for not knowing what to expect or our heads being so busy that we weren't being able to fully divulge into this experience. When it came to the excited part of it though, everyone was excited to get away and step back from our stressful and busy lifes here at school and truly open their hearts and be able to be loved and to give love on this trip.
So, our meeting was lovely and we truly connected as a group yesterday, it made me even more excited for all the great things to come next week. As part of the logistics and reflection next week pertaining to the blog, every memeber of our group will be blogging at least once to share their experiences with all of you at home. This allows us to connect with each and everyone of our loved ones but also gives you various perspectives on our experiences. The blog will be open for anyone to post whenever they have a moving experience, so I am sure there will be tons of posts. I will check back in later this week along with Annie to fill you in on some more details of our trip, but until then we share with you the three facebook pages of the three L'Arche communities we will be visiting throughout the week, with us spending most of our time at L'Arche Daybreak. http://www.facebook.com/larchedaybreak http://www.facebook.com/larchehamilton http://facebook.com/larchetoronto
Also here is the L'Arche Daybreak Website as well. This is where we will be staying throughout the week. http://www.larchedaybreak.com
Until our next post, with Love,
Chris
